JUNIOR ENGINEERS’ (CIVIL/ MECHANICAL/ ELECTRICAL)
EXAM NAME:
JUNIOR ENGINEERS (CIVIL/MECHANICAL/ELECTRICAL) RECRUITMENT EXAMINATION.
ABOUT EXAM: The examination will be held in the following branches of Engineering –
(i) Civil Engineering
(ii) Mechanical Engineering
(iii) Electrical Engineering.
The Examination will be held in two successive parts, viz.,
(i) Written Examination (Multiple choice objective type questions) and
(ii) Personality Test.
The Written Examination will be held in Kolkata North & Kolkata South centers. The Personality Test of the candidates selected on the basis of the results of the written examination will be held at the Commission’s office in Kolkata.

MODE:
# Applications can be submitted online only.
Candidates have to first go for “One Time Registration” (link available on top of the left panel on the home page of the website www.pscwbonline.gov.in) and fill up all the required data and upload scanned photos and signatures to get User ID and Password.
However, those candidates who have earlier registered themselves with PSC, West Bengal need not register once again.
They can use their previous User Id and Password to login into their respective Dashboards.
# After login into the Dashboard, candidates will find the name of the Examination with Apply Now link. Click on the link and the application form will be opened.
HOW MANY TIMES IN A YEAR: Exam will be conducted as per requirement. Please follow the official site for current notification.
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION:
# Diploma in Civil/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering from State Council for Engineering and Technical Education, West Bengal or its equivalent(as may be decided by the Commission).
# Departmental candidates will also be eligible to apply provided they possess the requisite educational qualifications.
# Ability to read, write and speak in Bengali (not required for those candidates whose mother tongue is Nepali)-vide Finance depts. Notification no.1243-F(P) dated 02.03.2016.
# The candidate must be a citizen of India.
# Good health and character suitability in all respects for appointment to Government Service.
AGE: Not more than 36 years.
The upper age limit is relaxable by 5 years for SC and ST candidates of West Bengal and by 3 years for OBC candidates of West Bengal and up to 45 years for persons with disabilities having physical disability of 40% and above as per Govt. Rules.
NATIONALITY: Must be a citizen of India.
SELECTION PROCEDURE
The Public Service Commission, West Bengal, shall have the discretion to fix qualifying marks in any paper/all papers/at each level of examination i.e. Written and Personality tests, and in the aggregate for all the categories of vacancies.
The final merit list will be prepared on the basis of the total marks obtained in the written examination and the personality test.

APPLICATION FEE:
Rs.160/- (Rupees one hundred sixty) only +
(i) For online payment through debit/credit cards; convenience fee 1% of the examination fee subject to a minimum of Rs. 5/- (Rupees five); + GST as applicable on convenience fee,
(ii) For online payment through net banking; a convenience fee of Rs. 5/-(Rupees five) + GST as applicable on convenience fee,
(iii) For offline payment through bank counter; service charge of Rs. 20/- (Rupees twenty) only.
SC/ST candidates of West Bengal and Persons with disabilities (PWD) having physical disabilities of 40% and above are not required to pay any fee. OBC candidates of West Bengal are, however, required to pay the usual fee as aforesaid.
NO EXEMPTION OF FEE IS AVAILABLE TO SC/ST/BC CANDIDATES OF OTHER STATES.
No claim for refund of the fee will be entertained nor will it be held in reserve for any other examination.
