EXAM NAME:  

SUB-DIVISIONAL INFORMATION AND CULTURAL OFFICER, IN THE WEST BENGAL.

 

ABOUT EXAM:  

SUBMISSION OF MORE THAN ONE APPLICATION FOR ONE PARTICULAR POST IS STRICTLY FORBIDDEN. 

The Commission may fix qualifying cut-off marks for all the categories of the vacancies in each level of examination, i.e. written, interview and aggregate.

 

REGION:  WEST BENGAL.

HOW MANY TIMES IN A YEAR: Exam will be conducted as per requirement. Please follow the official site for current notification.

 

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION: A degree from a recognized University.

 

AGE: Not less than 21 years and not more than 36 years.  

The age limit shall be relaxable only in cases of candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes or the Scheduled Tribes or the Other Backward Classes (OBC-A and OBC-B) or the Physically handicapped as per the extant rules or order of the Government.

 

N.B.: 

# THE ABILITY TO READ, WRITE AND SPEAK IN BENGALI IS AN ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATION FOR RECRUITMENT TO THE POST MENTIONED BELOW. 

 

# PROVIDED THAT THE SAID COMPULSORY REQUIREMENT OF KNOWLEDGE IN BENGALI IS NOT APPLICABLE FOR THOSE CANDIDATES WHOSE MOTHER TONGUE IS NEPALI UNLESS MENTIONED OTHERWISE AGAINST ANY PARTICULAR POSTS(S). THIS WILL BE TESTED AT THE TIME OF THE INTERVIEW.

 

NATIONALITY:  Must be a citizen of India.

 

SELECTION PROCEDURE:

RULES AND SYLLABUS FOR THE EXAMINATION

The examination will comprise of two successive parts, namely:

Part-I Written Examination;

Part-II Personality Test.

 

The written examination shall consist of the following four compulsory papers carrying 100 marks each and one optional paper carrying 100 marks, namely:

 

Paper – I: 

English comprehension, essay, precis, letter writing, and drafting of the report - 100 marks

 

Paper – II: 

Composition, drafting of the report, letter, and precis writing in Bengali/Nepali - 100 marks; and translation from English into Bengali/Nepali

 

Paper – III: 

Elementary mathematics based upon the syllabus of Madhyamik - 100 marks; Examination or equivalent.

 

Paper – IV: 

General Knowledge and current affairs with special emphasis on - 100 marks; West Bengal.

 

Paper – V: One optional paper carrying 100 marks from the following subjects:

a) Journalism, 

b) Mass Communication, 

c) Advertisement & Public Relations,

d) Sociology, 

e) Anthropology, 

f) Political Science, 

g) History, 

h) Film-Direction or Cinematography.

 

The Personality Test will be of 100 marks in Part II. For this purpose, a limited number of candidates, selected in order of merit on the results of the Written Examination will be called.

 

N.B.:

# The Commission shall have the discretion to fix qualifying marks in the aggregate.

 

# All papers must be written either in English or in Bengali except Paper – I.

 

APPLICATION FEE: 

Rs. 160/- (Rupees one hundred sixty) only. 

In addition to that, the candidates will be charged as follows:

 

For online payment through debit/credit cards: Convenience fee 1% of the examination fee subject to a minimum of Rs. 5/- (Rupees Five) only plus 18% G.S.T.on convenience fee.

 

For online payment through net banking: Convenience fee of Rs. 5/- (Rupees Five) only plus 18% G.S.T. on convenience fee.

 

For offline payment through bank counter: Service Charge of Rs. 20/- (RupeesTwenty) only.

 

S.C./S.T. candidates of West Bengal and Persons with disabilities (P.W.D.) having physical disability of 40% and above are not required to pay any fee. OBC candidates of West Bengal are, however, required to pay the usual fee as aforesaid. 

 

NO EXEMPTION OF FEE IS AVAILABLE TO S.C./S.T. CANDIDATES OF OTHER STATES AND O.B.C. CANDIDATES. 

 

No claim for refund of the fee will be entertained nor will it be held in reserve for any other examination.
