EXAM NAME: CONSTABLES (MALE) IN WEST BENGAL POLICE.
ABOUT EXAM:
# West Bengal Police has recruited the Constable of police (Male).
# The preliminary examination is an objective test conducted offline & is of qualifying in nature. This means that the marks of this phase won’t be added to the final selection.
# The question paper will be available in both the Bengali & Nepali languages.
# Also, there is a negative marking of the 1/4th mark for every wrong answer.

MODE: The West Bengal Police Recruitment Board extends the facilities of both the online and offline submission of applications. Applicants will be able to submit applications under this mode using the website www.wbpolice.gov.in
HOW MANY TIMES IN A YEAR: Exam will be conducted as per requirement. Please follow the official site for current notification.
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION: The applicant must have passed Madhyamik Examination from the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education or its equivalent.
Language:
(i) The applicant must be able to speak, read and write the Bengali language. However, this provision will not be applicable to the persons who are permanent residents of hill sub-divisions of Darjeeling and Kalimpong Districts.
(ii) For the applicant of hill sub-divisions of Darjeeling and Kalimpong District, the provisions laid down in the West Bengal Official Language Act, 1961 will be applicable.
AGE: The applicant must not be less than 18 (eighteen) years old and must not be more than 27 (twenty-seven) years old.
# The Upper-age limit shall be relaxed for the SC/ST applicants of West Bengal only by 05 (five) years and OBC applicants of West Bengal only by 03 (three) years.
# The upper age limit is also relaxable for NVF and Home Guards Personnel (serving in West Bengal Police only) as per existing Government Rules. However, Age relaxation is NOT available to Civic Volunteers.
NATIONALITY: Must be a Citizen of India.

PHYSICAL STANDARDS:
Note: The candidates belonging to the hill sub-division have to provide a domicile certificate at the time of document verification during the interview.
# Preliminary Written Exam: This is an offline test, just for qualifying in nature.
# Physical Measurement Test: The physical standards (height and weight) are also of qualifying in nature only for the candidates who qualify for the prelims.
# Physical Efficiency Test: This test again is of qualifying in nature which consists of 1600 mtr running within 06 min 30 sec.
# Final Written Exam: Candidates qualifying for the PMT & PET will be eligible to appear in the final written exam.

PRELIMINARY WRITTEN TEST (Full Marks - 100):
PHYSICAL MEASUREMENT TEST (PMT):
The physical standards (height and weight) of the candidates as given under 3(e) will be tested by using Electronic Machines of those who qualify in the Preliminary Written Test.
PHYSICAL EFFICIENCY TEST (PET):
Candidates who qualify in PMT will be allowed to take part in PET which consists of 1600 (Sixteen hundred) meters run within 06 (six) minutes 30 (thirty) seconds.
FINAL WRITTEN EXAM:
INTERVIEW & MEDICAL EXAMINATION:
# Only candidates qualifying for the final written exam, will be called for the interview session.
# Interview session carries a total of 15 marks.
# Questions will be asked from general awareness and suitability of the candidate for public service.
# Merit List will be prepared on the basis of marks obtained in the final written exam & Interview.
# Once the candidate is selected, he is required to fill up a “Verification Roll” which will be enquired thoroughly by the concerned authority.
# All the provisionally selected candidates will then be sent for the medical examination.
# To crack this phase, the candidate should be in good mental & physical health.
# In case the candidate failed to clear the medical examination, his candidature will be canceled
