EXAM NAME: EXCISE CONSTABLE (INCLUDING LADY EXCISE CONSTABLES) 

 

ABOUT EXAM: 

Excise Constable (including Lady Excise Constables) in the subordinate Excise service under Finance Department, Govt. of West Bengal. 

 

West Bengal Excise Constable selection will be done in five stages.  

# First, WBPRB will conduct a preliminary written exam. 

 

# Candidates who qualify in the WB Constable Prelims exam will be called for the Physical Measurement Test (PMT). 

 

# Those who qualify in PMT will be called for Physical Efficiency Test (PET.) 

 

# The candidates who qualify in PMT and PET will be called for a final written examination followed by an Interview on the basis of merit.

 

REGION: WEST BENGAL.

 

MODE: Candidates can apply through online/offline mode. 

 

Online Application: Candidates can apply through the official website wbpolice.gov.in. 

 

Offline Application: The offline application form must be downloaded from the official website and the filled-up application form may be sent only by post to the below-mentioned address superscribing on the envelope NAME OF THE RECRUITMENT, NAME OF THE POST applied for, and APPLICATION SL. NO.

HOW MANY TIMES IN A YEAR: Exam will be conducted as per requirement. Please follow the official site for current notification.

 

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION:  The applicant must have passed Madhyamik Examination from the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education or its equivalent having Bengali/ Nepali as a language paper of or above the Madhyamik level.

 

Language:  The competence of a candidate in the Bengali/Nepali language will be tested at the Preliminary Written Test.

 

AGE: The applicant must not be less than 18 (eighteen) years old and must not be more than 27 (twenty-seven) years old

The Upper-age limit shall be relaxed for the SC/ST candidates of West Bengal only by 05 (five) years and OBC candidates of West Bengal only by 03 (three) years.

 

NATIONALITY:  Must be a citizen of India.

Must qualify the following PhysicalEfficiency Tests: 

 

 

SELECTION PROCEDURE

Preliminary Written Test (Full Marks - 100): 

# Applicants provisionally considered eligible will have to appear in an MCQ-based preliminary written test which is qualifying in nature

 

# There would be 100 objective type questions having multiple choices (four choices) of answers carrying equal marks each. 

 

# The duration of this test will be 1 (one) hour. 

 

# The competence of a candidate in Bengali/Nepali will also is tested at this test. Questions for Preliminary Written Test except those meant for Bengali/Nepali language will be set in three languages (Bengali, Nepali, & English).

 

Questions of the Preliminary Written Test shall be from the following subjects:

 

i.

Test of language (Bengali/ Nepali)

50 Marks

ii.

General Awareness & Reasoning

50 Marks

 

 

 

NOTE: There will be NEGATIVE marking for each wrong answer. ¼th of the allotted marks for a particular question will be deducted for each wrong answer. 

 

West Bengal Police Recruitment Board will decide the prescribed scheme and syllabus for the Preliminary Written Test. 

 

The qualifying marks in the Preliminary Written Test to appear for the next stage will be fixed by the West Bengal Police Recruitment Board.

 

The marks obtained by a candidate in the Preliminary Written Test will not be considered for preparing the final merit list.

 

PHYSICAL MEASUREMENT TEST (PMT):

The physical standards (height and weight) of the candidates who will qualify in the Preliminary Written Test will be tested by using Electronic Machines.

 

PHYSICAL EFFICIENCY TEST (PET):

Candidates who qualify for PMT will be allowed to take part in PET.

 

NOTE: Only one chance will be given for the Physical Efficiency Test. The venues for PMT & PET will be decided by the West Bengal Police Recruitment Board, in due course.

PMT & PET are qualifying in nature.

 

FINAL WRITTEN TEST (FWT): Full Marks – 90

# All the candidates who qualify in the Physical Measurement Test (PMT) & Physical Efficiency Test (PET) will be called to appear in the Final Written Test to be conducted by the West Bengal Police Recruitment Board.

 

# The Final Written Test will have 90 (ninety) Multiple Choice (Four choices) Objective Type Questions (MCQs) each carrying equal marks.

 

# The duration of the test will be 1 (One) hour and 30 minutes

 

# Question paper will be set in three languages (Bengali, Nepali & English) except questions in the English language. 

 

Question of the Final Written Test shall be from the following subjects:

C.

Elementary Mathematics (Madhyamik standard)

20 Marks

Reasoning

10 Marks

INTERVIEW:  Full Marks – 10

A limited number of candidates will be called for Interviews in accordance with merit. In the Interview, the general awareness and suitability of the candidate for public service will be tested.

 

On the basis of the marks obtained in the Final Written Test and the Interview, a merit list of the provisionally selected candidates will be prepared by the West Bengal Police Recruitment Board.

 

MEDICAL EXAMINATION:

After receipt of Verification Roll having ‘NO OBJECTION’ all provisionally selected candidates will be sent for Medical Examination at the State Government designated hospitals.
