THE CANDIDATURE OF A CANDIDATE, WHO SUBMITS MORE THAN ONE APPLICATION FOR ADMISSION TO THE SELECTION PROCEDURE, WILL BE CANCELLED EVEN IF HE/SHE IS ADMITTED TO THE SAME.

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION: 

Essential Qualifications:

# Must have passed Madhyamik examination or its equivalent from any Govt. recognized Board or Institution;

 

# Must have passed physical measurement test as mentioned below:

 

 

Must Have To Qualify Any Four Of The FollowingEndurance Tests:

a. 1000 meter run within 5 minutes;

b. Ladder climbing within 20 seconds;

c. Lifting and carrying of sandbag weighing 63.5 kg continuously for minimum 50 meters;

d. Run up three stories of standard staircase within 1 minute;

e. Rope climbing using only hands within 60 seconds;

f. High Jump 1.22 meters or more.

 

Desirable Qualifications:

(i) Minimum 1(one) year experience in fire fighting in any Govt. department or organisation or Public Sector Undertaking or autonomous bodies;

 

(ii) A certificate from Industrial TrainingInstitute in any of the following disciplines –

Civil Engineering;

Electrical Engineering;

Mechanical Engineering;

Automobile Engineering;

 

(iii) Swimming certificate from any Government recognized club or institute;

 

Note I. – The modalities for the physical measurement test and endurance test shall be decided by the Commission in consultation with the Director-General, West Bengal Fire and Emergency Services.

 

Note II. – The Commission shall have the discretion to prescribe the scheme and syllabus for the written examination.

 

Note III. – The distribution of marks in the written examination, the personality test and the desirable qualifications shall be 80%, 10% and 10%, respectively, of the total marks. In the 10% of the total marks allocated for having the desirable qualifications, the break up shall be as under:

 

 

Note IV. – The commission shall have the discretion to fix the qualifying marks in the written examination. Final merit list shall be prepared on the basis of the total marks obtained in the written examination, for desirable qualification and in the personality test.”

 

AGE:  Not less than 18 years and not more than 27 years.

Provided that the upper age limit may be relaxable in respect of the candidates belonging to the categories of the Scheduled Castes or the Scheduled Tribes or the Other Backwards Classes (Group A and Group B) in accordance with extant rules of the Government.

 

LANGUAGE:  

# ABILITY TO READ, WRITE AND SPEAK IN BENGALI IS AN ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATION FOR RECRUITMENT TO THE POST. 

 

# PROVIDED THAT THE SAID COMPULSORY REQUIREMENT OF KNOWLEDGE IN BENGALI IS NOT APPLICABLE FOR THOSE CANDIDATES WHOSE MOTHER TONGUE IS NEPALI UNLESS MENTIONED OTHERWISE AGAINST ANY PARTICULAR POST(S). THIS WILL BE TESTED AT THE TIME OF THE INTERVIEW.

SELECTION PROCEDURE

The posts in the rank of Fire Operator shall be filled up by selection through direct recruitment on the basis of a written examination, physical measurement test, endurance test and personality test to be conducted by the Commission. 

 

The candidates who qualify in the Written Examination shall, thereafter, be called for the Physical Measurement Test and the candidates who qualify for Physical Measurement Test shall appear in the Endurance Test and those who qualify in Endurance Test shall be called for Personality Test.

 

Scheme Of The Examination

Full Marks: 80                                                                                            

Time allotted: 1 hour

 

The paper will carry 80 marks having 80 questions of 1(one) mark each, comprising of multiple choice objective type questions on English (20 marks), General Studies (40 marks) and Arithmetic (20 marks).

 

The examination will be of the 10th standard.

English:  

# Fundamentals of the English language such as Vocabulary, 

# Grammar,

# Sentence structure, 

# Synonyms,

# Antonyms and their correct usage etc.

 

General Studies: 

# Matters of everyday observation including everyday Science,

# Current events and problems with special reference to India and 

# Elementary knowledge of Indian History and Indian Geography.

 

Arithmetic: 

# Divisibility,

# Fractions,

# Decimals,

# Recurring Decimals, 

# Simplification,

# H.C.F.,

# L.C.M.,

# Partnership,

# Average,

# Ratio and Proportion, 

# Percentage,

# Simple Interest, 

# Profit and Loss, 

# Time and Distance, 

# Area of Rectangles and Squares.

 

APPLICATION FEE: 

Rs. 110/- (Rupees one hundred ten) only. 

In addition to that, the candidates will be charged as follows:

For online payment through debit/credit cards: Convenience fee 1% of the examination fee subject to a minimum of Rs. 5/- (RupeesFive) only plus 18% G.S.T.on convenience fee.

 

For online payment through net banking: Convenience fee of Rs. 5/- (Rupees Five) only plus 18% G.S.T. on convenience fee.

 

For offline payment through bank counter: Service Charge of Rs. 20/- (RupeesTwenty) only.

 

S.C./S.T. candidates of West Bengal and Persons with disabilities (P.W.D.) having physical disability of 40% and above are not required to pay any fee. OBC candidates of West Bengal are, however, required to pay the usual fee as aforesaid.
