Competitive Examination for Recruitment to the post of Sub-Inspector in the Subordinate Food & Supplies Service, Grade-III, under Food & Supplies Department, Govt. of West Bengal.

 

REGION: WEST BENGAL

EDUCATION QUALIFICATION: 

A candidate must have the following qualifications which should be clearly stated in the application. 

The qualifications prescribed in the advertisement are as per the notified recruitment rules issued by the Govt. Candidates must fulfill the qualifications by the closing date of submission of the application. 

 

# Pass in Madhyamik Examination of the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education or its equivalent.

 

# Ability to read, write and speak in Bengali (not required for those candidates whose mother tongue is Nepali).

 

NATIONALITY: Citizenship of India or such other nationalities as are declared eligible by Govt. of India.

 

AGE:  Not below 18 years but not more than 40 years.

 

Concession in age: The upper age limit is relaxable by 5 years for S.C. & S.T. candidates, by 3 years for O.B.C. (Non- Creamy Layer) candidates, and up to 45 years for Persons with Disabilities (PWD). 

 

No relaxation is applicable to S.C./S.T./B.C. candidates of other States as they shall be treated as general unreserved candidates. 

 

No claim for being a member of S.C./S.T./B.C. (Non- Creamy Layer), Persons with Disabilities (PWD), Ex-Servicemen, or a meritorious sportsperson will be entertained after the closing date for submission of the application.

 

The upper age limit is also relaxable for Ex-Servicemen who have put in not less than six month’s continuous service in any rank (whether as a Combatant or as a Non- Combatant) in the Armed Forces of the Union. 

 

For such Ex-Servicemen, the upper age limit is relaxable by three years more than the period of his service in the Armed Forces. 

 

SC/ST/BC candidates not belonging to the State of West Bengal shall be treated as General candidates.

 

NOTE: Date of birth as recorded only in the Madhyamik or equivalent certificate will be accepted. The age limits apply to all candidates whether in Government Service or not.

 

SELECTION PROCEDURE

Exam Pattern: 

# The Recruitment will be made on the basis of a written test (MCQ type) followed by a Personality Test to be conducted by the Public Service Commission, West Bengal. 

 

# The Public Service Commission, West Bengal shall have the discretion to fix qualifying marks in the written examination, the Personality Test, and also in the aggregate. 

 

# Candidates short-listed on the basis of marks obtained in the Written Test (Objective Multiple Choice Question) will only be called for verification of testimonials and Personality Tests. 

 

# Final merit list will be prepared on the basis of the total marks obtained in the Written Examination and Personality Test. All appointments shall initially be made on a temporary basis. 

 

Scheme of Examination: 

The examination will be held in two successive stages, viz. (1) Written Test (Objective Type)), (2) Personality Test, as detailed below

 

Written Test: 100 marks

The examination will consist of only one paper containing Multiple choice objective type questions on General Studies (50 marks) and Arithmetic (50 marks) and having 1 hour and 30 minutes duration.

 

Personality Test: 20 marks

A limited number of candidates selected merit-wise on the results of the Written Test will be called to appear at the Personality Test.

 

The final Merit List will be prepared on the basis of the total marks obtained in the Written Examination and the marks obtained in the Personality Test.

 

SYLLABUS: 

(i) General studies (Matters of common experience including everyday science, current events, and problems with special reference to India, elementary knowledge of Indian history, and Indian Geography.

 

(ii) Arithmetic (Question will be set on the basis of the syllabus of Madhyamik Examination of the WBBSE) with Mental Ability.

 

APPLICATION FEE: 

Rs.110/- (Rupees one hundred and ten) only + Service Charge 1% of Examination Fee subject to a minimum of Rs.5/- (Rupees Five) only for online payment through debit/credit card plus service charge /GST as applicable as Govt. 

 

Duty or Service Charge of Rs.5/- (Rupees Five) only for Net Banking or Service Charge of Rs.20/- (Rupees Twenty) only for payment through Bank Counter (off-line payment).

 

SC/ST candidates of West Bengal and Persons with Disabilities (PWD) having a physical disability of 40% and above are not required to pay any fee.
