Alphanumeric Series consists of alphabets, numbers, and symbols. Only alphabet or only number series can be asked in the exam.

We need to remember few things

(1) Vowels –  A, E, I, O, U

(2) Constants  –  All letters except vowels.

(3) Symbols –  !, @, #, $, %, etc.

We should know the position of all letters from A to Z.

We should also know the opposite alphabet also

We will discuss the shortcut with a problem.

Example:

E   A   @  1   A   5   #   C  M   2   %  9   @   Z  V   1   C  5   !   D  M   $   G  6   *   L  K   2   ©

Q.1:  Which of the following is 10th to the left of 19th from the left end!

a) C

b) 2

c) M

d) %

e) None of these.

Solution

19th from the left end is !

Now 10th element to the left of ! is M.

So, the answer will be M.

Now we are felling shortcut method

Here we have to find 10th to the left of 19th from the left end.

Here both are left.

for this      19th from the left 10th from the left

                  = 9th from the left.

Now, 9th from the left is M.

So, the answer will be M which is option (c).

Q.2:  In the above arrangement find which of the following is 5th to the right of 12th from the right end.

a) $

b) G

c) 6

d) M

e) None of these

Solution:

In the above arrangement, the 12th element from the right end is 5.

So, the 5th element to the right of 5 is G.

So, the answer is G.

Now, in shortcut,

Both are given from the right end 12th from the right end.

5th from right end = 7th from the right end

So, the 7th element from the right end is G.

So, the answer is G which is option (b).

Q.3:  Find the element which is 5th to the right of the 8th element from the left end?

a) 9

b) Z

c) U

d) @

e) None of these

Solution:

8th element from the left end is C

5th element to the right of C is @.

So, the answer is @.

Now,  shortcut,

Here we have to find the 5th to the right 8th element from the left end.

One in the left end another from the right end.

So, for this

8th + 5th = 13th from the left end

The 13th element from the left end is @.

So, the answer is @.

Which is option (d).
