Batch processing System:

Computer systems of the 1960s were non-interactive. Punched cards were the primary input medium, so a job and its data consisted of a deck of cards. To increase processing time, jobs with similar requirements are batch together by the computer operators and run accordingly. When the operator gave a command to initiate processing of a batch, the batching kernel set up the processing of the first job of the batch, at end of the first one next one initiated to run and so note CPU utilization of batch processing system is low. Batch systems are suitable for executing a large jobs that needs little interaction.

Example:

IBM’s OS360 and IBM's MVS Operating system is a popular batch processing system.
