Network Operating System:

Network operating system is an operating system that provides features such as file sharing across the network, along with a communication scheme that allows different processes on different computers to exchange messages.

A network operating system provides an environment in which users, who are aware of the multiplicity of machines, can access remote resources by either logging into the appropriate remote machine or transferring data from the remote machine to their own machines. Currently, all general-purpose operating systems, and even embedded operating systems such as Android and iOS, are network operating systems.
